Well loved officer. Had hearing impairment, but loved to fly. Was flying night ops. Waiting for his return. Just saw a flash of fuel.Part of cockpit and nose wedge between ladder and bulkhead. Only Knee to foot found of one leg.

Crashed above ten tanks of acetaline. Airman smoking on hanger deck lost his legs when the wing hit him. Retuned to Pearl for investigation of possible sabotage. Crew allowed liberty, but not officers. PH3 Koval attached to VFP-63

LT. Felton, of VFP-63 Det Lima was trying to land PP 903, an F8U photo Recon when his plane dipped, causing him to crash into the Fantail.. this was during our ORI in Hawaii in June of 1963
